What you get with this S&S Cycle Super Stock Alternator Style Crankcase is a well-built foundation for your engine build, finished in a sharp wrinkle black. This crankcase is designed to work with your stock 1984-1999 flywheel assemblies, primary covers, and gearcovers, making it a solid choice whether you're doing a stock replacement or aiming for more performance. It's also clearanced to accept 38 amp alternator stators, which is a key detail for many builds.

Beyond just fitting stock parts, S&S has added some thoughtful features. There's a ported breather passageway and a machined breather window that helps air/oil mist move from the flywheel cavity to the cam chest with less restriction. It's also machined to accept a crank position sensor, opening the door for EFI applications and making it easy to install S&S's own IST Ignition and VFI Fuel Injection systems. For engines over 95 cubic inches, S&S recommends using both crankcase breathers for optimal venting, though you can also vent through the cylinder heads or both. The cam chest oil pick-up has been relocated to improve gear case scavenging and help prevent oil carry-over at high speeds.

This crankcase is machined to accept the stock oil filter assembly found on 1992-1999 big twins and is clearanced for crankshafts with strokes up to 5 inches. It's a robust component that offers flexibility for both stock-style rebuilds and more demanding performance applications.
