UMI Performance 82-92 GM F-Body Tubular K-member Factory Springs Road Race

If you're building a 1982-1992 Chevrolet Camaro for road racing or autocross, shedding front-end weight is a key step to improving handling and making the most of your engine's power. This tubular K-member from UMI Performance is designed to replace the factory unit, instantly removing about 20 pounds from the front of your car. It provides a strong foundation for both your engine and suspension components, helping to keep everything located precisely where it needs to be.

UMI builds this K-member with a dual-tube lower section and adds extra tubing and gusseting in critical areas for added strength. The main structure is made from 3/16-inch thick mild steel, with CNC-machined mounting pads that accept factory engine mounts and clamshells. It also features boxed mounting points for your suspension and lightening holes in the mounting plates to further reduce weight. The tubular design also offers more clearance for aftermarket exhaust systems. This modular design means you can use your stock springs and struts, or you can remove the spring pockets to install coil-overs later on.

This K-member is MIG and TIG welded for a clean look and solid construction, and it's jig-built to ensure a hassle-free installation. It comes with six new Grade 10.9 flanged mounting bolts. UMI Performance manufactures these K-members in Philipsburg, PA, and they are available in a durable red or black powdercoat finish. If you plan to install an LSX engine, you'll need to purchase motor mount adapters (part # 2409), and be aware that factory LS A/C will need to be relocated using a kit fromkwikperf.com.
