BD Diesel Brake - 1989-1998 Dodge 60psi no-APPS 4in Vac/Remote

Descending grades with trailers can be a real challenge, often leading to overheated service and trailer brakes, which can cause brake fade, excessive wear, and costly repairs. This BD Engine brake is a time-proven variable regulating back-pressure exhaust brake designed to help you control your vehicle on those steep grades. It mounts in the exhaust system between the engine and muffler, or in some cases, bolts in place of the factory elbow between the turbo and the exhaust system. This particular model is for 1989-1998 Dodge trucks with a 4-inch exhaust and a 60 PSI vacuum system, without the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor.

The BD Brake features a rugged cast-iron housing that incorporates BD's exclusive AlumiBronze bushing and a positive sealing piston ring, meaning there are no blind holes for carbon and rust to form, ensuring miles of leak-free retarding. The butterfly valve and rotating shaft are made of stainless steel to resist corrosion, standing up well under the harsh, high heat conditions of the exhaust environment. BD's Variable Orifice Technology, combined with a solid, offset butterfly, spring-loaded cylinder, and pressure regulation, provides up to 150 retarding horsepower throughout the engine's RPM range. This model includes the brake valve, spool valve, and all necessary mounting hardware, which is made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel.

For automatic-equipped trucks prior to 2006, BD offers optional kits to electronically control torque converter clutch engagement, which reduces slippage, improves retarding performance, and lowers transmission temperatures. This exhaust brake is a solid option for Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 models from 1994-1998, as well as earlier D250, D350, W250, and W350 trucks from 1989-1993, helping you maintain control and reduce wear on your service brakes during long descents.
