BD Diesel Brake - 1994-2003 Ford 7.3L PowerStroke Van/Truck

When you're heading down a steep grade with a heavy load, controlling your speed is critical. Relying solely on your service brakes can lead to overheating, brake fade, and premature wear. This BD Diesel exhaust brake is designed to help you manage your speed more effectively, especially on those long descents, by using the engine's own power to slow you down.

BD Diesel has been a leader in exhaust braking for decades, and this unit is built to handle the harsh conditions of the exhaust system. It features a rugged cast-iron housing with BD's exclusive AlumiBronze bushing and piston ring seals, designed to prevent carbon and rust buildup and ensure a leak-free operation. The butterfly valve and rotating shaft are made from stainless steel to resist corrosion. This particular model uses BD's Variable Orifice Technology, which provides consistent retarding power throughout the engine's RPM range, offering up to 150 retarding horsepower. The kit includes the brake valve, spool valve, mounting hardware made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, and an air compressor that can be used for other air-powered accessories on your truck. For automatic transmissions prior to 2006, a programmable AutoLoc and PressureLoc kit is recommended to optimize torque converter clutch engagement for peak performance and lower transmission temperatures.

This exhaust brake is designed to mount either in place of the factory elbow between the turbo and the exhaust system, or inline within the exhaust system itself. Installation instructions are included to guide you through the process.
