BD Diesel Brake - 2003-2004 Dodge Air/Turbo Mount

Descending grades with trailers can be hazardous, leading to overheated service and trailer brakes, excessive wear, and costly repairs. This BD Diesel exhaust brake is designed to help you manage those situations safely. It mounts between the turbo and the exhaust system, acting as a variable back-pressure brake to slow your vehicle. This helps reduce reliance on your service brakes, keeping them cooler and extending their life, especially when towing heavy loads.

The BD exhaust brake features a rugged cast-iron housing that's built to withstand the harsh, high-heat conditions of the exhaust environment. Inside, it uses BD's exclusive AlumiBronze bushing and a positive sealing piston ring to ensure leak-free operation and prevent carbon and rust buildup. The solid, offset butterfly valve and rotating shaft are made of stainless steel to resist corrosion. This design, combined with BD's Variable Orifice Technology and spring-loaded cylinder pressure regulation, offers up to 150 retarding horsepower throughout the engine's RPM range, providing consistent braking power when you need it most.

This kit includes the brake valve assembly, an air compressor that can be used for other applications like air horns or airbags, air tubing, a DFIV controller and wiring kit, regulator, and control assembly. All mounting hardware is made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. For automatic-equipped trucks prior to 2006, BD offers optional AutoLoc and PressureLoc kits to electronically control torque converter clutch engagement, further reducing slippage and transmission temperatures for peak performance.
